Job Description
Essex Industries is a multi-site aerospace and defense manufacturer serving military and commercial customers worldwide. The Manufacturing Engineer designs and improves manufacturing processes, tooling, and test equipment to support efficient production. This role optimizes layouts, workflows, and assembly methods while ensuring parts, tools, and processes meet product specifications and manufacturing goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using Solidworks, Designs and qualifies fixtures and tooling for assembly and manufacturing.
- Designs, specifies and qualifies test equipment.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design to ensure efficient production methods.
- Project leader on NPD product integration in to the manufacturing facility, and represents operations at stage gate meetings on small to medium sized projects.
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Identifies, recommends and initiates continuous improvement projects in regards to processing, tooling and product flow.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings and documents within a PDM environment.
Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
Knowledge equal to a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related field and up to three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing.
