Software Guidance & Assistance is hiring: Vice President, Investment Accounting

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Vice President, Investment Accounting for a FULL-TIME salary bonus & benefits role with one of our premier financial clients. This role will sit in their Boston, MA office 4 days weekly.

This is a direct-hire, full-time position — client cannot sponsor now or in the future.
Cannot work with additional layers of employment.

Role Overview

• Title: Vice President, Investment Accounting
• Supports the investment accounting team across four asset areas: REITs, consumer credit, alternative energy, and transportation
• Full-time, in-office role; candidate must reside in Boston or be willing to work onsite daily

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and support the monthly and quarterly close
• Ensure accurate statutory (STAT) and GAAP reporting for insurance investments
• Partner cross-functionally with investment, accounting, finance, actuarial, and risk teams
• Serve as liaison between accounting and specialized investment silos
• Contribute to process modernization and ongoing team initiatives

Must-Have Qualifications

1. Deep U.S. STAT accounting experience – this is the #1 filter
2. Hands-on monthly/quarterly close – not suitable for audit-only or review-only profiles
3. Insurance or reinsurance investment accounting background

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with real estate investment trusts (REITs)
• Familiarity with Clearwater accounting software
• CPA license (not required)
• Exposure to consumer or private credit

Not a Fit

• Candidates with audit-only or Big 4-only experience lacking applied close and statutory accounting
• Remote or minimal hybrid candidates – this is strictly Boston-based, in-office 4 days weekly

Team & Culture

• Short-staffed and operating under time pressure
• Culture is collaborative but stretched; leadership is highly engaged in the hiring process
• New Boston office currently in Brighton, moving to Seaport in late 2026
