Role Description:
The Data Governance Analyst supports the execution and continuous improvement of the organization’s data governance program by enabling, configuring, and maintaining governance tools, technologies, and processes. This role focuses on the technical implementation of data governance principles—such as metadata management, data lineage, data quality, data classification, and stewardship enablement—and works closely with business and technical teams to ensure data policies, standards, and controls are consistently applied across the enterprise.
Job Duties:
- Configure, maintain, and enhance data governance tools, including metadata repositories and data catalogs (e.g., Microsoft Purview).
- Enable and support automation of governance workflows such as metadata harvesting, role-based access controls, data quality monitoring, and policy enforcement using scripting or low-code/no-code solutions.
- Implement data classification, tagging, and labeling mechanisms aligned with approved data governance policies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation supporting data lineage, business glossaries, metadata models, and data quality rules.
- Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to translate business metadata into technical metadata structures.
- Support integration of data governance tools with enterprise platforms such as SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Power BI.
- Participate in monitoring and compliance activities related to data quality, privacy, and security standards.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring availability, accuracy, and traceability of governance-related evidence.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend enhancements to governance frameworks, processes, and tooling.
- Evaluate data governance tools and participate in RFI/RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Document data governance activities and provide follow‑up on data‑related incidents reported by data consumers or stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable laws, and industry regulations.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned based on organizational needs.
Education & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Information Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting enterprise data initiatives, including administration of data platforms, metadata management, data governance tooling, or business intelligence environments.
- Hands‑on experience or working knowledge of tools and technologies such as:
- Microsoft Azure, Purview, Fabric and/or Power BI
- SQL
- JSON, XML
- Visio or similar documentation tools
- Experience participating in tool evaluations, vendor selection, or proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
- Fully bilingual (Spanish and English) with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
Plus:
- Very strong plus: Proven experience working within the healthcare industry, including exposure to healthcare data, clinical, claims, or regulatory data environments.
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals and Data Analyst Associate, Data Management Professional (CDMP), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or equivalent
- Experience supporting regulated or compliance‑driven environments.
- Familiarity with data stewardship models, business glossaries, and data quality frameworks.
Salary range: 55K-65K + benefits
