We are a growing, multi-location restaurant group operating multiple high-volume concepts and locations. We are seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to lead all accounting functions, ensure financial integrity, and build scalable systems to support continued growth.

This role sits at the intersection of accounting discipline and restaurant operations. The ideal candidate has deep hospitality accounting experience, a strong command of multi-unit financials, and the ability to create structure, clarity, and accountability across a complex organization.


Core Responsibilities

Accounting Leadership & Close

  • Own the full accounting function across all restaurant locations and entities
  • Lead the monthly, period, and year-end close process with accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee general ledger integrity, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Maintain consistency and standardization across all location-level financials

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce consolidated financial statements and location-level P&Ls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, local/state regulations, and internal policies
  • Coordinate with external CPAs on tax filings, audits, and year-end reporting
  • Maintain documentation, controls, and audit-ready financial records

Controls, Systems & Process Design

  • Design and enforce internal controls for cash handling, AP/AR, payroll, and purchasing
  • Manage and optimize accounting systems, POS integrations, and reporting workflows
  • Standardize accounting procedures across all locations and concepts
  • Improve accuracy between POS, inventory, payroll, and accounting platforms

Cost Control & Operational Partnership

  • Partner with operations and culinary leadership on food cost, beverage cost, and labor analysis
  • Support inventory accuracy, waste tracking, and COGS reconciliation
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities and operational risk areas
  • Support new store openings, transitions, and system rollouts

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, manage, and mentor the accounting team
  • Establish clear roles, workflows, and accountability within the department
  • Serve as a financial resource to GMs and leadership teams to improve P&L understanding


Qualifications

Required

  • 6+ years of accounting experience with significant restaurant or hospitality focus
  • Proven experience managing multi-location or multi-entity accounting
  • Strong understanding of restaurant financial statements, controls, and close processes
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency
  • Experience working with restaurant POS, inventory, payroll, and accounting systems

Preferred

  • CPA or equivalent accounting credential
  • Experience supporting growth-stage or expanding restaurant groups
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Toast, MarginsEdge, ADP, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar
