The Dental Clinic Clerk II position supports the Dental Clinics department by overseeing both clinical and clerical functions essential to patient services. Key responsibilities include managing cash collections, accounts receivable, and revenue reporting; ensuring accuracy of patient accounts and demographic data within the patient management system; and supervising and training Dental Clinic Clerks. The role also coordinates ancillary services to maintain efficient clinic operations and communicates daily with patients in English and Spanish.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervisory & Staff Management

Supervises dental clerks and support staff.

Assigns and plans work.

Approves time off, monitors attendance.

Assists with selection, training, evaluation, discipline, and termination.

Leads transition to Epic EHR system and ensures compliance and guides clerks through Epic EHR transition.

Patient Interaction & Customer Service

Responds to routine questions from patients and families.

Serves as primary contact for inquiries, complaints, and concerns.

Provides necessary information regarding appointments and accounts.

Reports patient feedback to Clinic Managers and Managing Partners.

Schedules patient appointments and staff business appointments.

Administrative Support

Orders clerical supplies and monitors usage.

Financial Transactions & Billing

Performs check‑in/check‑out, verifies patient info, and collects payments.

Receives, posts, and allocates payments in clinical software.

Handles daily cash reconciliation.

Oversees patient accounts, monitors receivables, adjusts balances, and validates transactions for claims submission.

Codes, stores, and retrieves patient dental treatment records manually or electronically.

Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required

High school graduation or equivalent.

One year (12 months) of experience comparable to that performed at the Dental Clinic Clerk I level of this series.

OR

Certified Dental Assistant in a dental clinic facility, program, or in dentistry practice, if required by employing institution.
