The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial reporting. This role also plays a key part in maintaining a strong internal control environment with clearly documented processes and procedures. The company operates on a hybrid model, 3 days in the office.
Key Objectives
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reporting packages, offering clear, actionable insights for leadership decision‑making.
- Perform in‑depth financial statement analysis and respond to ad hoc reporting needs.
- Partner with department leaders to develop reporting on client profitability and uncover cost optimization opportunities.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to drive greater efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting functions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and tax compliance.
- Approve weekly disbursements and maintain current cash flow forecasts to support financial planning.
- Lead the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Develop detailed financial reports and variance analyses, highlighting trends, root causes, and actionable recommendations.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews with department leaders, offering insights and guidance.
- Evaluate and refine accounting procedures, maintaining strong internal controls and proper documentation.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members through performance management, goal setting, and professional development.
- Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring timely and complete preparation of all required documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience in a service‑based business environment strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
- Strong analytical mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
