The Role AMD is looking for a System Hardware Architect to drive execution and delivery of client product requirements which include areas such as system feature definition, product requirement specifications, performance optimization, power management, and developing use cases.

The Person Within the Client Business Unit, we seek a strategic thinker who understands how systems integrate and excels in collaborative environments. This role involves partnering across AMD teams and engaging with customers and industry leaders to deliver innovative, end‑to‑end solutions.

Strong organizational and program management abilities to keep complex projects on track

Relationship‑building skills to foster trust and collaboration internally and with key customer architects and engineers

Key Responsibilities

Primary technical system hardware architect leading the program within the Client business unit

Responsible for product features and capabilities such as performance and power management from the pins looking into the silicon to ensure that the accepted marketing product requirements are met

Comprehends the SOC as a complete system which includes HW (silicon), FW, BIOS & SW

Ensures that FW, BIOS & SW are aligned to enable features

Knowledgeable and contributes to the platform architecture and system features

Ensures that the required Use Cases are achieved

Responsible for any marketing change requests or any changes to the requirements to be negotiated between the BU and the design team to reach agreeable solutions

Responsible for the technical accuracy of product disclosures

Responsible to quantify impact of bugs and feature / performance goals

Is not expected to be the expert in all areas but is tightly linked to the other architects and technical leads for the program

Drives the system features and solutions to be architected and delivered for the program

Help to define future desktop SOC designs to meet market needs

Work with major customers to enable implementation of AMD SOC designs in their desktop solutions

Preferred Experience

Prior, recent, and relevant years of experience in the desktop and mobile PC industry

Knowledgeable of the architecture of the PC platform for x86 based platforms

Familiar with the interface industry standards specifications defined to improve power manageability

Understand silicon process technologies and the tools to project power & performance of the SOC

Requires a mixture of Silicon and System Board Experience

Experience with PC software and hardware

System architecture experience in desktop and/or mobile is a plus

Understanding of benchmarking and performance optimization

Academic Credentials

Bachelors or Master’s degree in electrical or Computer Engineering
