Job Summary Eastside Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, relational and visionary leader to serve as the High School Head Football Coach, guiding our Metro League team to new heights. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics, the Head Football Coach will lead, develop and sustain an elite football program that delivers an exceptional student‑athlete experience through a relentless focus on students, culture and connection. This role will mentor student athletes, sharpen their skills and help them grow into confident leaders—both in competition and in life.
The Head Football Coach is responsible for all aspects of the football program, including culture building, athlete development, staff leadership, competitive excellence and community engagement. This full-time role also includes Athletic Assistant responsibilities that support the overall success, organization, and growth of the Athletic Department throughout the year. These responsibilities are designed to complement the football role and will be aligned with departmental needs and the individual’s strengths.
The goal of this position is to establish and sustain an elite football program that provides an exceptional experience for every student‑athlete, while also making a meaningful impact on the strength, culture and operational excellence of the Eastside Catholic School Athletic Department.
Responsibilities – Head Football Coach Program Vision & Leadership
Establish and sustain a clear vision for an elite football program aligned with the mission, values and standards of Eastside Catholic School.
Build a program that delivers an exceptional experience for student‑athletes—emphasizing personal growth, accountability, leadership and strong relationships.
Create and maintain a positive, inclusive and competitive culture rooted in trust, discipline and pride.
Serve as the chief ambassador for the football program within the school, league and broader community.
Build a positive team culture by incorporating the EC Core Covenants: Team Competitor, Integrity, Accountability and Family.
Model behavior that exemplifies our EC Core Covenants.
Partner with student‑athletes to establish team expectations grounded in the EC Core Covenants.
Implement team activities that intentionally promote the EC Core Covenants.
Coaching & Athlete Development
Plan, organize and lead all football activities, including off‑season programming, pre‑season preparation, in‑season practices, competitions and postseason play.
Design and implement developmentally appropriate training plans that prioritize fundamentals, skill development, football IQ and player safety.
Collaborate closely with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to ensure alignment in student‑athlete development and performance.
Support and encourage multi‑sport participation while maximizing football‑specific development.
Support student‑athletes through the college recruiting process in collaboration with school administrators and counseling staff.
Staff Leadership & Management
Recruit, hire, mentor, evaluate and retain a high‑quality coaching staff aligned with program values and expectations.
Clearly define roles, responsibilities and performance standards for all assistant coaches.
Foster professional growth, accountability, collaboration and unity within the coaching staff.
Lead regular staff meetings and conduct formal performance evaluations.
Student Experience, Culture & Character
Build strong, authentic relationships with student‑athletes rooted in trust, respect and accountability.
Model and reinforce high standards of integrity, sportsmanship, professionalism and leadership.
Support student‑athletes academically, socially and emotionally.
Create structures that promote leadership development, ownership and student‑athlete voice within the program.
Operations, Administration & Compliance
Oversee all football operations including scheduling, practice planning, game‑day logistics, travel and equipment management.
Ensure full compliance with WIAA regulations, league policies and school expectations.
Collaborate with athletic administration on budgeting, fundraising and resource allocation.
Maintain accurate records related to eligibility, participation and program compliance.
Family, Community & Alumni Engagement
Communicate clearly, consistently and proactively with families, student‑athletes and stakeholders.
Build positive relationships with parents, alumni, boosters and community partners.
Partner with Admissions, Advancement and Marketing departments to support enrollment, fundraising and program promotion.
Represent Eastside Catholic Football with professionalism and pride at all times.
Responsibilities – Athletic Assistant As a full‑time member of the Athletic Department, the Head Football Coach will also serve in an Athletics Assistant capacity, supporting department operations and initiatives beyond football‑specific responsibilities.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Support athletic events and game‑day operations across multiple sports.
Assist with facility supervision, scheduling coordination and event coverage during evenings and weekends.
Provide administrative and operational support to the Executive Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director.
Assist with departmental projects, initiatives and strategic priorities.
Assist with the maintenance of compliance documentation, managing communication efforts and supporting departmental organizational systems.
Participate in Athletic Department meetings, professional development and school‑wide initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned that align with departmental needs and the individual’s strengths.
Requirements
Meets WIAA coaching standards and hold CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain prior to the season).
Successfully complete a school background check, fingerprinting and Safe Environment training prior to the season.
Demonstrated success as a football coach at high school, collegiate or professional level, with experience leading or significantly contributing to a program.
Leads student‑athletes with a positive, motivated and responsible coaching style.
Demonstrates strong relational leadership skills and the ability to connect with student‑athletes, families and staff.
Clear commitment to culture building, athlete development, and long‑term program sustainability.
Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
Ability to inspire and develop student‑athletes both on and off the field.
Commitment to academic success, sportsmanship and personal growth.
Ability to collaborate effectively with assistant coaches and athletic staff.
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
Compensation High School Head Football Coach / Athletic Assistant (full‑time): $75,000–$110,000 annually, including coaching stipend.
High School Head Football Coach only (part‑time): Stipend range of $20,000–$35,000.
This position is open to candidates seeking either a full‑time Head Football Coach/Athletic Assistant role or a part‑time Head Football Coach‑only role, at the candidate’s discretion.
