Summary Nestled in the heart of Ashland, Oregon, home to the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Southern Oregon University, and the celebrated Ashland Independent Film Festival, our 5-screen art house theater is a cultural hub for film lovers and community members alike. We seek a passionate and dedicated General Manager to lead our team and oversee daily operations, programming, and guest experience. This full-time position runs Tuesday through Saturday, open to close, averaging 35–40 hours per week, with additional hours during peak seasons such as holidays and summer.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain high level of customer satisfaction to meet Coming Attractions Theatres standards
Oversee operation and maintenance of theatre and equipment, and conduct safety inspections
Supervise, schedule, evaluate, hire and terminate staff
Schedule and conduct training and safety meetings
Introduce and enforce company policy
Supervise and train Managers and Assistant Manager
Supervise janitorial staff and conduct janitorial theatre inspections
Make accurate bank deposits and manage petty cash funds
Provide complete and accurate box office reports
Make accurate and detailed incident and accident reports as necessary
Handle advertising responsibilities such as trailers, banners, standees, marquee, website and phone recordings
Handle concessions inventory control
Interface with Home Office in a timely manner
Additional Responsibilities
Handle other duties as assigned by Home Office and be available to handle emergency situations at the theatre and on call twenty-four hours a day
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age (at least 21 years of age in theatres that serve alcohol)
Offer of employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check
High School or G.E.D. graduate preferred
Minimum of 3 years prior theatre management experience
Complete basic food handling training and obtain any local or state mandated certifications, health card, or food handler permit where required
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Follow oral and written instructions
Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
Have good communication and interpersonal skills, and good client/customer service skills
Work effectively with a team
Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Perform basic math and cash handling duties
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Self‑motivated, organized, honest, reliable, dependable, problem solver, positive in customer and staff relations, and knowledgeable of computers, Internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software
Working Environment The work for this position is performed mainly inside the movie theatre and requires routine use of theater equipment, standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
Walking, reaching, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting items weighing no more than fifty pounds
Work performed in a standing position for extended periods of time
Noise level may be moderate to high at times
