The
Senior Controls Engineer
supports the Electrical Engineering team by designing, developing, and improving PLC-controlled machinery and systems for the hardscape and masonry industries. This role provides leadership in system design, electrical panel development, and controls innovation, with a strong focus on Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs. What You’ll Do
Lead independent system development projects and provide technical guidance. Act as a project lead and mentor for electrical engineers and assembly staff. Review and create electrical schematics, PLC/HMI programs, and Bills of Materials. Specify and evaluate electrical components, motion control products, and communication networks. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Troubleshoot equipment operations and networks. Represent Electrical Engineering in interdepartmental meetings when the EE Manager is unavailable. Ensure adherence to PLC and HMI standards while maintaining Master Files. Monitor electrical engineering hours, component obsolescence, and redline updates. Provide technical leadership in product innovation, customer communication, and process improvements. Travel up to 20% to support customer needs. Qualifications
Experience:
10+ years of relevant work experience. Background:
Process control experience, workflow planning, and production schedule management across multiple projects. Software Knowledge: PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, RS Logix5000, FactoryTalk preferred) AutoCAD Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Equipment Knowledge: Rockwell closed-loop VFDs and servo drives PC supervisory controls and process controls experience Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills Ability to mentor, lead, and support teams Strong problem-solving and technical aptitude Collaborative team player with a respectful work style Benefits
