Brassroots District: LA ’74 is an original immersive theater and concert experience that drops audiences into the heart of LA’s funk and soul scene in 1974. Set inside a concert venue, the show blends live music, storytelling, and audience interaction to create a once-in-a-lifetime party where fantasy and reality collide.
About the Role We’re seeking a Production Manager to keep the funk flowing and the trains running on time. This person will be the backbone of our production, making sure rehearsals, performances, and technical operations run smoothly and within budget. You’ll be the point person for our creative team and crew, translating vision into reality while keeping us grounded in logistics.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the full production budget, tracking expenses and ensuring accountability
Supervise all production departments (technical, stage management, designers, crew), serving as the central hub between the executive producers and the rest of the team
Coordinate scheduling, rehearsals, load‑in, tech, performances, and strike
Work hand‑in‑hand with the director and stage manager to ensure smooth operations throughout the run
Anticipate challenges and solve problems quickly, keeping the production on schedule and within budget
Maintain a safe, supportive, and collaborative working environment for cast, crew, and staff
Support immersive‑specific logistics, including managing multiple performance areas, audience flow, and site‑specific needs with the venue
Work closely with the director, designers, and other artistic staff to ensure their vision is realized within the technical and financial constraints of the production
Hire, train, and supervise the production team and crew, assigning duties and managing staff performance
Report directly to the Executive Producers with weekly budget and operations updates
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Production Manager in theater, live performance, or immersive/experiential events
Ability to effortlessly work in an extremely fast‑paced environment
Strong budgeting, scheduling, and organizational skills
Calm under pressure and quick to problem‑solve
A collaborative leader who can oversee multiple departments with confidence
Familiarity with immersive theater or site‑specific productions strongly preferred
Experience working with musicians and in a concert environment a plus
Funk and soul in your heart and good vibes
Contract Dates (initial run) January 5 – March 29 (with possible extensions)
Rehearsals January 15 through early February 2026
Performances Preview: February 5
February: 7, 14, 20, 28
March: 7, 14, 20, 28
Possible extensions: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays through Spring 2026
