Medical Lab Scientist IV (Cell Lab Technologist)
to join our
Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program
at Forsyth Medical Center. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of cellular therapy while supporting patients through some of the most critical moments of their care journey.
What We're Searching For
Experienced
Medical Lab Scientist IV
with a strong foundation in laboratory operations
Cellular therapy experience preferred , but we are excited to train the right candidate with strong lab skills and a passion for learning
Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and committed to patient safety and quality
Motivated to grow within a specialized and evolving area of laboratory medicine
Key Responsibilities
Lead the transfer of collected cells to the Cell Processing Lab
Oversee receipt, storage, thawing, and distribution of cryopreserved cellular therapy products
Coordinate receipt and distribution of fresh cellular products for infusion
Monitor cryofreezers and specialized cellular therapy equipment
Support regulatory management, documentation, and compliance
Serve as a lead resource and mentor for laboratory staff
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary transplant and clinical teams

What We're Looking For
Education:
4‑Year/Bachelors Degree, required. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science or equivalent. Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology or MT program preferred. If graduated before 1987, two‑year certification is recognized as MT.
Experience:
Medical Laboratory Scientist: Four years of relevant laboratory experience preferred. Minimum three years of experience as laboratory scientist including two years with moderate‑complexity testing, OR minimum two years of experience with oversight of point‑of‑care testing required.
Licensure/Certification:
Scientist Cert from ASCP or AMT (BB, C, H, MT/MLS, M, MB), required.
Additional Skills (required):
All individuals newly certified ASCP beginning January 1, 2004, must maintain ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) through the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). All individuals newly certified AMT beginning January 1, 2006, must maintain AMT Certification Continuation Program (CCP).
Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests and communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests.
Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff, and the public.
Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field.
Ability to follow written protocols.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Point of Care:
Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests.

Specialist certifications from accreditation agencies.
