Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate
Director of Nursing
to lead and oversee all nursing services within our long-term care facility. The DON is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and effective clinical operations.
Qualifications
Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
Active, unrestricted
RN license
in the practicing state
Minimum
3 years of nursing leadership/supervisory experience
such as
Charge Nurse, Unit Manager
Nurse Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or similar role
in a hospital, nursing home, or related healthcare setting is preferred
Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and nursing practices
Key Responsibilities
Direct and manage all nursing department operations in compliance with state and federal regulations
Supervise, evaluate, and support nursing staff, including hiring and discipline
Ensure quality, compassionate resident care and adequate staffing coverage
Participate in admissions, care planning, QAPI, and interdisciplinary team meetings
Oversee infection control, incident reporting, and resident safety
Assist with surveys, audits, plans of correction, and regulatory inspections
Communicate with residents, families, physicians, and leadership to resolve concerns
Support budget planning and resource management
Serve in an administrative role in the absence of the Administrator
Skills & Work Requirements
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, and regulatory agencies
Ability to manage a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
On-call availability and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and emergencies
Long-term care facility setting
Exposure to infectious materials and healthcare-related hazards
Physical activity including walking, lifting, bending, and assisting residents
