Domestic Violence Counselor DVH

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director of Family Services, the Domestic Violence Counselor will:

Be responsible for the coordination, planning, implementation, and execution of the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) domestic violence program and its services.

Provide victims of domestic violence, gang violence, or human trafficking with a comprehensive array of services, which will include intake and assessments, case management, domestic violence education, parent education, linkages, resources, advocacy, life skills, shelter assistance, counseling, employment activities, and financial literacy.

Provide one‑on‑one counseling sessions and group sessions, both telehealth and in‑person.

Conduct housing readiness assessments and make recommendations for programs based on assessments and clients’ needs.

Services to be provided throughout the communities of Service Planning Area 7.

Develop, build, and maintain effective working relationships with partnering agencies.

Provide trauma‑informed services, appropriate to the needs of DV survivors.

Provide workshops or presentations to provide awareness and education to the community.

Assist with outreach efforts and attend outreach events.

Attend all individual and team program meetings and required training.

Attend any external county meetings required by contracts.

Maintain appropriate program documentation and record information for evaluation and reporting purposes.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or equivalent and relevant work experience.

2 years of experience working with victims/survivors of violence.

40‑hour Domestic Violence Certification.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Permanent U.S. residency or citizenship.

Valid California Driver’s license, current auto insurance, and good driving record.

Ability to pass background check and criminal clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Experience in working in a community‑based organization.

Experience in working with database programs (such as Clarity HMIS, Exym and CHAMP).

Knowledge of Southeast Los Angeles County.
