Position Summary The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for safe and efficient vehicle operation and may perform Order Filler and Checker duties. Responsibilities include accurate storing, shipping, and receiving of product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Unload inbound shipments, move product to storage, and input data accurately into WMS.

Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate areas.

Maintain an organized work area.

Pull and prepare items for shipment, ensuring correct quantity and type.

Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.

Prepare freight for operations accurately and on time.

Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.

Report quality variances.

Move product from staging or storage to production lines or docks.

Ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.

Maintain records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control and security.

Assist in physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.

Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.

Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment.

Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, orderly fashion.

Inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment daily.

Operate all equipment safely following prescribed work methods.

Maintain an active forklift certification.

Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Change fuel tanks on forklifts, assist in physical inventories, perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.

Repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays as requested.

Help maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Perform other duties as required.

Work overtime as dictated by business.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Minimum Required Qualifications

High‑school diploma or GED.

6 months experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.

Ability to operate MHE (forklifts, clamp trucks, etc.).

Work in unregulated temperatures; warehouse conditions may range from mild to moderate.

Completion of a forklift training program.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Basic computer skills; RF scanners; WMS functions.

English (reading, writing, speaking).

Basic to intermediate mathematics for inventory and product verification.

Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks promptly.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.

1–2 years forklift experience.

Current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands

Occasional handling/fingering, sitting.

Frequent bending.

Constantly walking and standing.

Lift/Carry and push/pull 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment The job involves low to moderate noise and rarely exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
