You must have reliable transportation to be considered for this position.
The Certified Diabetes Educator is responsible for autonomous clinical case management and education with regards to various aspects of diabetes care for patient/families with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes. Education takes place in the setting of return visits or group classes in the outpatient clinic, and in the hospital for newly diagnosed patients, and established patients with special needs. The Certified Diabetes Educator contributes to the program and curriculum development.
This position is part of CHOC's Prevention of Obesity and Diabetes Through Education and Resources Program, which focuses on providing multi-generational group teachings to patients and families referred to the program.
The ideal candidate will have Pediatrics diabetes education experience, have the ability to lift up to 25lbs, have strong computer skills, and be Bilingual in English and Spanish.**Pay Range**Minimum $47.99 Midpoint $63.60 Maximum $79.20*Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.***Experience**\* Required: Minimum one (1) year of Educator experience. Previous experience with case management.\* Preferred: Two (2) years of Certified Diabetes Educator with pediatric experience.**Education**\* Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or equivalent and Registered Dietitian (RD) with Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).\* Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nutrition, or healthcare related field.**Training**\* Preferred: CGM Sensor and Pump training and management.**Specialized Skills**\* Required: Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
