HFS Company is a recognized Architecture/Engineering/Construction project management and consulting firm working on a variety of federal, military, and commercial projects throughout the US and Europe. We provide full-service A/E design and support services across the entire lifecycle of our clients' facilities and assist our clients to reach their capital improvement goals. We are currently looking for a Senior Architect or Senior Engineer to work onsite at the Jesse Brown VAMC in Chicago, Illinois. Note:

Responsibilities
Lead to the project's success with the skillset and competence to supervise and manage personnel of diverse skillsets.
Possess knowledge of building design and construction means, methods and techniques and relevant building codes and accessibility requirements.
Understand and master the requirements of local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this project.
Knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Ability to pass a basic background check for entry to US government-owned facilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited university or a Bachelor of Engineering from an ABET accredited school
Registered Architect (RA) or Registered Engineer (PE) in any one of the 50 U.S. states
NCARB certification desirable
10+ years recent experience in building design as a registered architect within active medical facilities
Specific experience with VA medical center projects and VA Design Manuals, Specifications and TIL
Must be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this project
Knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements
Must have the skillset and a working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling to lead to the project's success
Must possess the skillset and competence to supervise and manage personnel of diverse skillsets
Knowledge of building design and construction means, methods and techniques
Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas
