Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.

Responsibilities

As Stationary Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the boiler and chiller plant along with the monitoring of all required chemicals.

Oversee and monitor two high-pressure boilers, specifically chemicals in boilers and cooling towers.

Oversee three chillers, including the adjusting and maintenance of the refrigeration and water cooling.

Monitor chilled water pumps, chemical pumps, and various other pumps located in the boiler plant.

Monitor valves, piping, and filters.

Record readings and make adjustments when necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.

Analyze the operation of various systems, including determining the cause of any malfunctions and taking corrective action as required.

Perform preventative maintenance on all base building and critical equipment which includes but is not limited to assembling all tools, supplies, and instruments necessary to complete the task.

Complete the preventative maintenance task sheets and report any impending supply or material shortages or equipment problems to management.

Perform work with a minimum amount of disruption and conduct immediate cleanup of the work area.

Maintain tools and order supplies as required for installation and repairs.

Maintain logs, document equipment repairs, close work orders, track time accurately in reports, and provide timely communication with management.

Comply with the department’s policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

Assist other mechanics and operators with repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.

Maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment in the boiler plant.

Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Experience with chillers and boilers is a must.

Blue seal required to maintain boilers and chillers.

Skilled in the use of tools and machinery required for this position.

Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.

Team player with the ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.

Must be able to maintain paperwork and an organized file system.

Must be able to lift 50lb.

Must possess strong leadership skills and follow up on work orders in a timely manner.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
