Position Overview:
Supervises and oversees the day-to-day activities of the transportation department, which oversees all transportation needs for the affiliate. May include facilitating such activities as: transport to and from patient appointments, pick-ups and deliveries, emergency transportation needs, acting as back up driver, etc. Maintains adequate staffing, supervises staff and provides education and training, oversees all vehicle maintenance and parking services. Ensures all The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, State, Federal and Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) regulations for transportation are met, completing all required documentation and operating within established budget guidelines. Identifies and implements cost savings and best practices, using Lean or other process improvement methods and concepts. Collaborates with others to coordinate services, streamline work flow, standardize procedures, and/or drive positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day transportation department activities.
Staff and provide education and training.
Oversee vehicle maintenance and parking services.
Ensure compliance with TJC, state, federal and PACE regulations.
Complete required documentation and operate within budget guidelines.
Identify and implement cost savings and best practices.
Collaborate with others to coordinate services and streamline workflow.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
5 years of recent relevant experience.
Solid understanding of transportation operations and workflows.
Knowledge of applicable local, state, federal laws and regulations.
Demonstrated leadership skills: team building, coaching/mentoring.
Problem‑solving and operational issue resolution.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues.
Time‑management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Commitment to exceptional customer service and responding to customer needs promptly.
Ability to work with a diverse population respecting cultural and linguistic differences.
Proficiency with essential software and applications.
Certifications & Licensure
Passenger Endorsement Required.
DL- California Drivers Class A,B, or C with Passenger Endorsement.
DL-Valid Drivers License.
AUTO-Automobile Insurance.
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (due at hire if hired on or after 10/03/2025; if hired before 10/03/2025 within 90 days of 10/03/2025).

Pay Range is $36.00 to $45.00 / hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
