We are seeking an experienced
Financial Controller
to oversee the company's financial operations, enforce strong internal controls, and provide leadership with clear, actionable financial insight.
This role is ideal for a
hands‑on Controller with industrial commodities experience
who wants to play a meaningful role in a growing, equipment‑intensive business and has the potential to grow into expanded financial leadership over time.
Position Summary The Financial Controller is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and coordination of all financial activities across the company's locations. This role oversees accounting operations, daily banking and cash flow, monitors for fraudulent activity, manages AP/AR staff, enforces internal controls, supports strategic planning, and partners closely with executive leadership on cash flow, cost management, and capital planning.
Key Responsibilities Financial Controls & Oversight
Implement and enforce
internal financial controls

Spot‑check scale tickets, yard transactions, and operational records
Ensure coordination and data integrity between
accounting, scale, dispatch, and operational software systems
Accounting & Financial Operations
Manage
QuickBooks Online
and overall general ledger activity
Oversee
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable , including direct management of AP/AR staff
Perform
inter‑company yard accounting
and reconciliations
Handle
daily banking activities , including deposits and transfers, as well as monitoring for fraudulent activity
Reconcile
fuel cards, employee expenses, and vendor accounts
Budgeting, Reporting & Cash Flow
Create and maintain
budgets and P&L statements
Develop
costing estimates
for all areas of the business
Track
operational costs and trucking costs
Provide
weekly cash‑flow reporting
to executive leadership
Deliver
monthly financial performance updates , including trend and variance analysis
Strategic Planning & Capital Support
Support
strategic financial planning
for CapEx and OpEx decisions
Assist with
lease, loan, and vendor credit negotiations
Provide financial modeling and forecasting to support equipment purchases, yard improvements, and operational growth
Insurance, Risk & Compliance Support
Coordinate
insurance renewals
and support
workers' compensation audits
Oversee financial aspects of
licensing, permitting, and vehicle tags
Provide documentation and support to
outside finance and tax service providers
Purchasing, Inventory & Cost Control
Approve purchases submitted by the Purchasing Manager or Satellite Yard Managers
Oversee
PPE inventory , including sourcing, costing, and purchasing
Maintain inventory and purchasing oversight for
consumable supplies

Manage
equipment‑related parts purchasing , including inventory tracking, sourcing, costing, and purchasing
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
5+ years of experience as a Controller or senior accounting professional
Experience in the industrial commodities industry
(scrap, recycling, manufacturing, construction, trucking, or similar)
CPA or CMA
preferred
Strong knowledge of internal controls, cost accounting, and multi‑location operations
Proficiency with
QuickBooks Online
and integrated operational systems
Proven ability to manage staff and work cross‑functionally with operations and leadership
Work Environment
On‑site role supporting active industrial operations
Minimal travel between company locations, as needed
Growth Opportunity This role is designed as a
