Business Operations Director

to join our

Digital Practice . This is a

hybrid

position with 1‑2 days in Herndon, VA, as needed.

The Business Operations Director is a leadership position focused on driving operational excellence, supporting growth strategy, and ensuring efficient service delivery across the federal portfolio. The Business Operations Director acts as a critical link between executive leadership, client‑facing teams, and corporate functions, ensuring the business unit runs efficiently and achieves its growth targets.

Responsibilities

Process Optimization:

Design, implement, and govern operational processes to achieve efficiency, quality, and compliance (e.g., resource forecasting, contract management, expense control).

Performance Reporting:

Lead the development and delivery of regular business reporting, metrics, and performance analysis to executive leadership, identifying drivers of performance/underperformance and recommending corrective actions.

Risk & Compliance:

Ensure all operations adhere to ManTech, Federal, and contractual compliance requirements, managing and mitigating operational risks.

Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with Business Group Leads to define and execute the regional or portfolio strategy and growth initiatives.

Investment Management:

Support the management and tracking of internal investments (MD&I Market Development & Investments) to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and demonstrable ROI.

Capability Development Support:

Coordinate operational support for major Capability Campaigns, ensuring alignment of delivery capabilities and commercial models.

Financial Oversight:

Partner with Finance to monitor budget, margin performance, and business metrics, providing insights to maximize profitability.

Talent & Resource Planning:

Oversee demand management, talent planning, and staffing processes to ensure the business unit has the right talent in the right roles to meet delivery commitments.

Operational Leadership & Efficiency:

Lead overall operational direction and ensure efficient execution across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.

15+ years of relevant business operations experience with 10+ years of consulting and/or service delivery experience supporting the Federal and National Security community. Experience to include Business Operations, Financial Management, or a related management function, preferably within a large professional services firm or Federal contracting environment.

Demonstrated experience working with and understanding the unique operational landscape of Federal Government clients.

Understanding of multiple technical disciplines to drive the analytics mindset to include but not limited to systems engineering, software/systems development, agile and cloud computing, data analytics, AI/ML, cybersecurity, intelligent automation, and digital engineering.

Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions (Finance, HR, Legal, etc.).

Deep understanding of Delivery and Operations Management principles, including process improvement and operational metrics.

Leadership: Experience in Business Operations Director role for large, complex operations projects.

Security Requirements

Must be U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time.

Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer.

Frequent communication with co‑workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
