Senior Patient Access Operations Coordinator (PRN/As Needed) – Job ID 250003EJ.
Overview Responsible for coordination of business operations of the 24/7 Patient Access Department. Supervise, train, mentor, and develop staff to ensure departmental objectives are met and to support patient satisfaction and fiscal goals.
Responsibilities
Supervise, train and evaluate the Patient Access team covering Admissions, Emergency Department, Laboratory, Radiology Registration, Scheduling, and Financial Clearance.
Develop staffing schedules, rotate call, weekends, and shift coverage; manage float pool and ensure coverage at SZ Campus, United Medical Center and other ancillary locations.
Assist in managing the financial aspects of the department and conduct quality assurance activities.
Collaborate with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement.
Prepare and analyze standard reports; correct errors and monitor quality control of registration processes.
Verify insurance eligibility, enter charges and diagnostic codes, manage online registration and work lists.
Coordinate communication with HR, IT, Purchasing, Engineering and other CNMC departments.
Perform administrative tasks: payroll, time records, petty cash, ordering supplies, report generation, and staff meetings.
Promote safety, adhere to Stop, Think, Act and Review; maintain confidentiality.
Participate in departmental meetings and promote teamwork, professionalism, and customer service.
Identify opportunities to improve processes; make decisions with sound judgment.
Use resources efficiently and seek cost‑saving measures.
Qualifications Minimum Education Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or health care (Required). Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Minimum Work Experience 4 years related progressive experience (Required). 7 years without degree in healthcare field (Required). 1 year supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare operations (Required).
Required Skills/Knowledge Computer literacy; problem solving, root‑cause analysis, critical thinking; high energy, self‑starter; goal setting and project deadline management; professional interactions; typing 35‑40 WPM with assessment; Microsoft proficiency; knowledge of insurances, medical terminology, CPT‑4/ICD‑10 coding; CHAA certification within first year of hire.
Location & Schedule Primary location: District of Columbia–Washington. Work locations: CN Hospital (Main Campus) 111 Michigan Avenue NW Washington 20010. Shift variable; work schedule varies; Position Status R — O — PRN.
Compensation Full‑time salary range: $57,200 – $95,347.20.
