Position Summary
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus. Western Carolina University (WCU) is expanding its engineering programs to meet the region’s needs. Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, engage in extracurricular activities, develop research, and serve the university and professional community. The openings are nine‑month tenure/tenure‑track positions, with additional summer opportunities for research, teaching, and other professional endeavors. Rank will be determined at the point of hire, with the anticipated start date August 2026.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to contributing to the intellectual and practical lives of students and stakeholders in the School, College, University, and Construction Industry.
Minimum Qualifications
Possess an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, environmental engineering, architectural engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by August 1, 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional engineering licensure and registration.
University‑level teaching experience including online/distance education.
Professional civil engineering design and/or construction‑related experience.
Research experience in grantsmanship, refereed publications, and undergraduate and graduate student supervision.
