Job Summary The Surgery Scheduler schedules surgical procedures for Mountain View Hospital. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times.
Duties And Responsibilities
Coordinates and schedules patients’ procedures/surgeries with physician offices.
Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
Interacts with patients, physicians and other staff at Mountain View Hospital and outside facilities; providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
Ensures efficient telephone communication.
Maintains accurate block time and surgery schedule information in the information system for Mountain View Hospital.
Coordinates surgical equipment and operating rooms without conflict.
Works as a team member within Mountain View Hospital.

Qualifications Education/Certification:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
One of the following: 6 months experience as a medical receptionist with strong knowledge of procedures and/or surgeries, 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equipment/Technology:
Basic typing and keyboarding skills. Familiar with multi‑line phones, computers and other office equipment. Ability to learn hospital information system.
Language/Communication:
Understands and can competently use medical terminology. Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
Mental Capabilities:
Ability to prioritize and multi‑task efficiently and effectively. Must possess critical thinking skills that enable the scheduler to anticipate problems before they occur, and generate solutions for anticipated problems.
Interpersonal:
Needs strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, managers and peers.
Performance:
Strong organizational performance is required. Can act calmly and cooperative at all times. Is knowledgeable of contracted insurance plans and procedures. Requires compliance to all hospital policies and procedures including standards of confidentiality, safety, and conduct.
