Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or secretarial school preferred.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for greeting and admitting patients upon arrival.
Completes admitting information in the computer and locates beds.
Notifies referring physician of admission as requested.
Handles transfer communication when patients move within or between departments.
Performs clerical discharge functions: disassembles records, schedules follow‑up appointments, arranges transportation, and completes discharge processes in the computer.
Faxes discharge summaries to designated areas and coordinates interdepartmental communication.
Answers telephone and intercom calls courteously, maintaining accurate messages.
Assists physicians by providing requested patient or department information in accordance with Hospital Admin. Policy # IV.080.
Enters written physician orders into EPIC, generates Kardex and Medical Admission Records, and schedules laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Manages consultation calls, maintains communication with patient care departments, and facilitates patient transportation.
Organizes and maintains patient and department records, prepares identification bands and name tags, and assembles patient charts.
Records lab results, alerts RN of abnormal results, and maintains office supplies and statistical data for the department.
