As an Applebee’s® Assistant Manager you will be engaged in all aspects of day‑to‑day operations at the restaurant, ensuring that guests and staff are passionate about their experience every day. You will serve as a team leader, an excellent problem solver, a stress‑tolerant handler, and a champion who works hard and enjoys the process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit.
Cultivate a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee’s Premier Card of our core values and beliefs.
Respond immediately and correct all verbal guest complaints to self and staff.
Prioritize guest contact with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee’s standards.
Maintain departmental inventory levels.
Ensure product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meet company standards by performing line checks.
Schedule employees effectively to meet sales demands.
Maintain effective safety and security programs.
Promote and lead restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
Perform routine maintenance and immediately report to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs.
Promote quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates.
Promote Flynn | Applebee’s training procedures for new managers.
Help maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems.
Participate in constant employee development using One‑on‑One and performance documentation, contributing to written evaluations.
Assess efficiency of employees, provide fair feedback regularly, and work continuously with employees on development areas.
Monitor acceptable employee performance and document situations requiring or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action.
Ensure compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
Control cost in assigned department.
Comply with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
Drive bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM’s request and be accountable for completion.
Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
Ensure sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee’s standards.
Provide a role model for managers and employees.
Develop mastery of all store‑related technology.
Be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant (cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.).
Use the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies.
Education and Experience
At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications (also a plus).
Physical Standards
Work various shifts ranging in hours, including weekends.
Stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to ten (10) hours.
Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc. up to 50 pounds.
Read and write to facilitate communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment.
