Comms & Sensor Systems Engineer/Scientist (Level 2 or 3)
At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS), Phantom Works is seeking a Comms & Sensor Systems Engineer/Scientist to join the Phantom Works Special Technology Integration team in Mesa, AZ.
Responsibilities
Interpret highly dynamic or uncertain requirements to develop flexible embedded hardware & software systems within aggressive program schedules & budgets
Remain application & product focused while simultaneously executing multiple technical aspects of vertically integrated designs
Balance systems/software engineering best practices with cost, schedule, and system performance requirements
Apply systems-level thinking and agile design practices to advance embedded system architectures
Perform control system logic/algorithm, hardware, and software development tasks
Provide end-to-end systems integration, test, and field support
Work under experienced electrophysics engineer/scientists, software, and hardware engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Take ownership of tasking from start to finish and demonstrate consistent initiative with ambiguous or unclear assignments
Maintain project planning of assigned sub‑tasks; decomposing milestones, reporting progress, estimating completion, and communicating help needed
Qualifications
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Level‑2: 2+ years of work‑related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or work‑related experience with a Master’s
Level‑3: 5+ years of work‑related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years with a Master’s or PhD
2+ years of experience with low‑level software programming in C/C++/Rust and version control workflows (Git, GitLab, SVN)
2+ years of experience in high‑level software development for applied physics, modeling, and/or simulation using MATLAB, Python, Julia, and/or Jupyter
3+ years of experience in real‑time embedded systems and low‑level driver development with microcontrollers, single‑board computers, and/or FPGAs
Pay Range Level 2: $79,910 - $108,100 Level 3: $97,750 - $132,250
Location & Travel This position is 100% onsite in Mesa, AZ. Travel up to 25% of time may be required.
Clearance & Citizenship Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required. U.S. citizenship required. A security clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.
