RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for optimizing machine operation, which includes research, planning, design, and follow‑up documentation of projects within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
Plans, assists, documents, and implements process improvement techniques and devices
Monitors and reacts in a timely manner to routine demand maintenance requirements
Participates in routine Preventive/Predictable Maintenance
Utilizes a variety of mechanical and electrical test equipment
Utilizes machining, electrical, and mechanical trade skills to complete daily tasks
Analyzes machine downtime and reacts accordingly to improve machine efficiency
Provides accurate and immediate hands‑on troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment including afterhours support
Attend any job‑related training deemed necessary by supervision
Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
Perform other tasks assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Successful completion of all required on the job training
Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
Formal training and practical experience in an industrial setting as an Automation Technician
5+ years of practical hands‑on experience in an industrial automated setting
Experience utilizing a variety of instruments including but not limited to multi‑meters, oscilloscopes, PLC Interface, hydraulic torque wrench, and various hand tools
Proficient with PLC control logic programming and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of high‑pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated material handling equipment
Sound understanding of and ability to utilize 480vac VFDs
Good mechanical aptitude
Operate in a team‑based environment
Work on various optimization projects from conception to completion
Produce technical reports and update drawings
Light machining and welding skills
Preventive maintenance skills
Interpret and produce mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment
Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
