Director of Payroll & HR Systems
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Payroll & HR Systems to lead and optimize enterprise-wide payroll and HR information systems in a complex, regulated environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role managing a team of five and serving as the strategic bridge between Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology.
This role is responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, system integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across HR and payroll platforms, with deep expertise in ADP Enterprise HRMS and Kronos Time & Attendance.
This role is ideal for a proven leader who thrives in large, automated environments and can drive operational excellence while managing stakeholders at all levels.
Base pay range: $190,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr
Additional compensation: Annual Bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the VP of Corporate Services and HR leadership to define short- and long‑term goals for HR and payroll systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of up to five professionals, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Establish and maintain strong collaboration between HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors.
HR & Payroll Systems Oversight
- Ensure the integrity, optimization, and audit readiness of HR and payroll systems.
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures governing HR/payroll system use and operations.
- Continuously review system performance to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and quality standards are met.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Labor and all applicable federal and state payroll regulations.
- Manage audits, incident reports, and regulatory inquiries related to payroll and HR data.
- Act as the primary liaison with federal and state agencies (e.g., unemployment, disability insurance, workers’ compensation), banks, and legal counsel regarding payroll matters.
Process Improvement & Project Management
- Lead and support HR/payroll‑related projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.
- Partner with HR Systems and Payroll leadership to refine payroll accounting practices and improve workflows.
- Manage relationships with outsourced vendors supporting HR, payroll, and time & attendance systems.
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for HR/Payroll Systems Operations.
- Ensure payroll accounting practices align with general ledger and broader finance operations.
- Recommend policy changes and operational improvements to Corporate Financial leadership.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience required.
Experience
- 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in payroll and HR systems within a complex, automated environment.
- Healthcare or similarly regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing teams and enterprise‑scale HR/payroll operations.
Technical Expertise
- Deep, hands‑on knowledge of ADP Enterprise HRMS.
- Advanced experience with Kronos Scheduling and Time Entry.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting, earnings/deductions, and regulatory reporting.
Skills
