Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a

Oncology Clinic and Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)

to join our team! This position will support the Conroe, Texas location. The role is Monday‑Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no call. Conveniently located near I-45, SH 105, and Grand Parkway (SH 99), TxO - Conroe offers easy access for patients across Montgomery County. What does the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences in the patient population, including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and thermally manage patient/family needs, and supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Oncology Clinic RN:

Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.

Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.

Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.

Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.

Facilitates clinical operations and patient care:

Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.

Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.

Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient’s chart.

As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.

Assist patients in locating available community resources.

Inter‑professional collaboration:

Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.

Infusion Clinic RN:

Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.

Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.

Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.

Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.

Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.

Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.

Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.

Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.

Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications Education/Training

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Entry level - 0‑3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level II

Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level Senior

In addition to levels I and II:

Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred.

Oncology certification preferred.

Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
