Job Purpose Performs inspections and video recordings of the City's sanitary sewer infrastructure according to Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) standards.

Essential Job Duties

Inspect sewer lines.

Using PACP numerical scoring standards, inspect publicly owned gravity sanitary sewer lines using closed captioned television (CCTV) inspection equipment and software to visually inspect and identify defects and other issues that may affect operability of the City's sanitary sewer infrastructure.

Assist with acceptance of public sanitary sewer infrastructure.

Perform manhole condition assessments via electronic tracking system.

With direction from Supervisor, respond to customer complaints during normal and afterhours, inspect mains and services and troubleshoot problem areas.

Other Job Duties

Cross train others in the use and maintenance of CCTV equipment; troubleshoot equipment malfunction or problems.

Using CCTV, assist with locating damaged or blocked sanitary sewer lines.

Assist others with sanitary sewer collection system condition assessment using SL-Rat equipment.

Primary Job Challenges

Accurately observe, score, and document conditions of the City's sanitary sewer infrastructure per PACP identifier coding.

Setup and assembly of appropriate traffic‑control devices and worksite.

Complete and submit accurate and appropriate daily logs.

Ability to understand and interpret GIS maps for pipe identifier details.

Work around hazardous waterborne pathogens.

Equipment Operated:

Operates CCTV truck and equipment involved in the inspection of sanitary sewer wastewater collection, storm drains, and other related structures and systems within the city's service area, including a metal detector, power tools, and push camera.

Job Content Knowledge:

Has thorough knowledge of the policies, procedure, and activities of the City and as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Television Truck Line Inspector. Comprehensive knowledge of terminology, principles, and methods utilized within the Department for scoring lines per PACP. Proficient with computers.

Language Skills:

Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively and accurately before groups of customers.

Mathematical Skills:

Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rates, ratios, and percentages, and draws and interprets bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Applies common sense understanding to carry out multi‑step instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems by choosing from several known choices with frequent reliance on how problems were dealt with before.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform duties that are normally acquired through attainment of a High School Diploma or GED, plus three to six months related experience and/or training.

Required Certifications/Licenses: Ability to obtain Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) Certification within probationary period.
