Refrigeration Technician
will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of the industrial ammonia refrigeration system.
Base Pay Range $35.00/hr – $35.88/hr
Responsibilities
Provide third‑shift refrigeration service, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of the ammonia system and all associated equipment (compressors, condensers, fans, pumps, spiral chillers, spiral freezers, and other cooling & freezing systems).
Manage preventive maintenance programs to improve performance, reduce refrigerant loss, and control expense.
Respond to emergency calls during regular and off‑working hours.
Communicate daily system operation and maintenance information to the department head and maintenance team.
Monitor all systems to ensure correct operation and conduct leak‑detection system checks.
Conduct inspections, temperature monitoring, and reporting through control systems.
Evaluate and report equipment condition and service all refrigeration equipment and systems within the facility.
Troubleshoot associated equipment and fine‑tune controls to optimize energy savings.
Provide documentation for EPA compliance records and support the PSM program.
Order repair parts and maintain adequate supply of refrigerants.
Follow up on service contracts for water‑treatment systems and condenser cleaning.
Maintain housekeeping and clean‑up of refrigeration engine rooms on a daily basis.
Assist in managing outside mechanical and refrigeration contractors conducting service, repair, and new contract work.
Education and Experience
Introduction to ammonia systems and controls; or two/three years related experience and/or training in refrigeration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
