Process Engineer Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to drive process optimization, automation improvements, and technical support at a fully automated coatings manufacturing facility. This role requires strong expertise in formulated chemical processes, PLC/controls, and continuous improvement within high-volume automated environments. Base Pay Range
$110,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Lead process engineering for batch and continuous automated coatings operations. Partner with automation/controls teams to enhance PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.). Analyze process data to improve OEE, reduce cycle times, optimize energy use, and ensure product quality. Create and update P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SOPs. Work with maintenance and reliability teams to boost equipment uptime and throughput. Support R&D, Production, and Product Management with new product introductions. Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for process or quality issues. Ensure compliance with EHS, OSHA, EPA, and ISO/TS standards. Contribute to capital projects from concept through commissioning, including equipment and automation integration. Mentor junior engineers and production personnel. Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). 10+ years of process engineering experience in coatings, chemical, or related manufacturing. Strong automation and PLC controls expertise (Rockwell, Siemens). Knowledge of batch control systems (ISA-88) and industrial control software. Strong understanding of pumps, mixers, tank systems, thermal systems, and environmental controls. Experience with SPC, Six Sigma, or similar analytical tools. Proven continuous improvement/lean leadership. Effective communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience improving material flow and resolving production bottlenecks. Ability to train operators and staff on new systems and processes. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience
Background in paint, coatings, resin, or adhesive production. Experience with automated material handling, recipe management, and batch automation. Exposure to Industry 4.0, predictive maintenance, remote monitoring, or smart systems. Seniority Level
