Job Summary
This position will be responsible for arranging Area Health Education Center ( AHEC ) activities, and providing instruction on college prep and health careers to students in the Permian Basin. The emphasis shall be on the promotion and support of health careers in the 27-county service area, with special attention to the needs of rural communities. The mission is to address health workforce shortages and health disparities in the region through collaboration and education. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree; or Associate’s Degree (or equivalent – 60 college credit hours) and a minimum of two years of relevant administrative experience that includes demonstrated work experience with detail-oriented tasks of a significant nature Knowledge of computer operating systems and various software applications to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentation material, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or education Minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in either healthcare, academic settings, and/or community relations field Experience in providing training, developing and implementing presentations, and event planning Essential Functions
Prepare, present, and distribute informational material related to all health education programming Provide instruction on college prep and educate students on health careers in the Permian Basin Recruit and lead high school students to participate in the AHEC Jr. Scholars Program and any other health training programs Manage and monitor the AHEC Scholars Program, including recruitment, disseminating information, orientation to the online didactic system, tracking progress towards program completion, completing required data management, and processing stipend payments Develop and maintain professional working relationships with high schools, hospitals, colleges, universities, and legislative representatives to promote and develop continuing education opportunities such as conferences, symposiums, lunch and learns, or other training events; in person or through a virtual communication platform Collaborate with health career programs to provide necessary training and equipment that enhances academic programs and activities Collect and accurately enter all data that is required to be reported in the AHEC database in a timely manner Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality Maintain and update activities on communication platforms, including AHEC’s website, social media, and other communication methods Attend and contribute to the organization of quarterly AHEC Advisory Board meetings Attend required professional/staff development offerings and meetings pertinent to the position Must be able to travel for day trips approximately 3 times a week and occasional overnight stay Occasional work assignments after normal business hours Other duties as assigned Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time The person in this position needs to occasionally move to other locations on campus The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity The person in this position frequently communicates with others verbally and electronically; must be able to exchange accurate information Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
