Position Overview As an Aerial Construction Technician I – Fiber Optics, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead fiber lines. This dynamic, physically engaging position involves pulling, tensioning, stranding, spacing lines, and performing pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make‑readies, and mounting equipment in both communication and power spaces.
What You'll Do
Safely perform work in communication spaces
Qualify to work safely in energized spaces
Participate in training for pole climbing
Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cab
Record and report the sequential foot marks by the operator or groundman
Responsible for framing poles
Pull cable, strand, fiber, and lash for extended periods of time
Provide framing and attachment hardware for operator, jack down guys, pull lasher
Working Conditions
Walk, use hands, and climb ladders and stairs; crawl/kneel
Climb poles and work at heights up to 60 feet in communications spaces
Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions
Walk long distances
Lift up to 65 pounds without assistance
What You'll Bring
No prior experience necessary
Valid Driver's License required
Experience with ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferred
Experience operating small equipment (forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer) preferred
General construction and/or flagging experience preferred
Comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces
Additional Eligibility Qualifications This position requires completion of a thorough background, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and participation in random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing as requested.
