Position Overview The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeking an organized, professional, and results‑oriented Program Representative to administer unemployment insurance benefit programs and provide employment services. This role requires strong knowledge of federal and state unemployment insurance laws and dedicated to ensuring benefit accuracy.

Essential Functions

Serve as a Program Representative for IDES under general supervision.

Process routine, complex, and special claims on benefit entitlement programs.

Assist clients with IDES services and partner agency programs.

Adjudicate monetary and nonmonetary benefit claim issues, providing eligibility determinations.

Advise clients on work attitudes, habits, relationships, and attire related to job referrals.

Maintain activity reports and time charging.

Perform other duties reasonably within the scope of enumerated duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of college with background in social/behavioral sciences or business; OR

Two (2) years of experience as a department intermittent staff member with two (2) years college credits; OR

Four (4) years as a department intermittent staff member.

Spanish language proficiency at a colloquial level for client communication.

Conditions of Employment

Illinois State Police background check.

Spanish language use in all duties.

Travel as required with overnight stays as appropriate.

Light work as defined by U.S. Department of Labor (lifting no more than 20 lbs).

Attend seminars and trainings to stay current on industry topics.

File required Statements of Economic Interest per Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.
