DeShano Development
DeShano Development is seeking a Real Estate Development Analyst to support our growing portfolio of multifamily and senior housing developments across Michigan. This role plays an essential part in our affordable housing development pipeline, assisting with LIHTC/MSHDA applications, financial analysis, construction draw processing, insurance coordination, and grant disbursement requests.
You will work closely with the executive team to prepare state and federal funding applications, support financial modeling, coordinate documentation required by lenders and investors, and keep projects organized and moving forward from early feasibility through construction.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and submission of project applications to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
Create and process owner sworn statements and construction draws in conjunction with our accounting and development teams.
Track soft cost invoices, soft cost change orders, and assist in compiling lender draw packages.
Prepare and submit grant disbursement requests for state-funded programs.
Coordinate builder’s risk and general liability insurance for active developments and provide EOIs to lenders/investors during due diligence.
Assist in the creation of pro forma financial statements and development sources/uses reports.
Support research and identification of new funding sources to layer development capital stacks.
Maintain project-specific development checklists and track deadlines for agency, lender, and investor deliverables.
Conduct financial analysis and help compile financial materials for lenders, CPAs, and internal leadership.
Submit FOIA requests to MSHDA and organize responses for use in underwriting and application preparation.
Update and manage the development database (Monday.com) for mortgages, properties, tasks, and project tracking.
Champion DeShano Development through timely, professional communication with internal and external partners.
Assist with LIHTC scoring research and maintain the team’s ESRI ArcGIS mapping database.
Provide general administrative support to the development team as needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, real estate, community planning, or related field.
Other Requirements
Attention to detail is a fundamental requirement for this role, as the successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with financial models, managing complex documentation, and ensuring accuracy in all aspects of project applications.
Understanding of accounting principles, balance sheets and income statements.
Understanding of financial metrics such as DSCR, NOI and ROE.
Strong typing skills.
Proficiency in using Excel, including the use of formulas, graphs and the goal seek tool.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Proven experience in a professional field.
Work Location This work location is primarily in person at the companies’ headquarters in Gladwin, Michigan.
