Posted Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM JOB SUMMARY The Mortgage & Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for originating, evaluating, and processing both residential mortgage and commercial lending products. This role involves building strong client relationships, assessing creditworthiness, ensuring compliance with lending regulations, and guiding clients through the loan process from application to closing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation. Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients to generate mortgage and commercial loan business. Interview with customers to assess their needs, financial status, and creditworthiness to recommend suitable loan products. Collect, verify, and analyze financial documents, credit reports, and collateral valuations. Prepare and submit complete loan applications for underwriting approval. Negotiate loan terms within established guidelines and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Approve or reject applications within assigned limits and in accordance with mortgage and underwriting guidelines. Perform site inspections of businesses and collaterals at origination of loan and periodically thereafter. Review and monitor loan repayments and take action to collect past due accounts. Monitor mortgage and commercial portfolios to maintain on-target budget. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending products, market trends, and regulatory changes to include NMLS licensure. Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field. Minimum 2 years of demonstrated understanding and proven experience in mortgage lending, 5 years in commercial lending and general underwriting. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge of lending regulations, underwriting standards, and loan documentation, specifically of the Fair Lending Rules & Regulations, the SAFE Act, Reg Z, RESPA and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills. Proficiency in loan origination software and Microsoft Office Suite. NMLS registration (for mortgage lending) required under the terms of the Safet Act of 2008 and Regulation Z requiring a background and credit check. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications, AS400 or other loan servicing software. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Customer‑focused approach with high ethical standards. Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Sales‑driven mindset with attention to detail and time management.
