About the Role You’ll join our field team supporting conveyor and parcel sortation systems in large distribution centers. This hands‑on role focuses on installation, commissioning, retrofits, and service of high‑throughput material handling equipment.

What You’ll Do

Install, wire, and terminate control panels, MCCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, scanners, and safety devices

Commission, test, and tune PLC/HMI/VFD systems (Allen‑Bradley preferred; Siemens a plus)

Perform I/O checkout, loop checks, drive setup, and device commissioning

Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical and controls issues on conveyors and sorters (shoe, cross‑belt, tilt‑tray)

Configure and diagnose industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, AS‑Interface)

Update firmware, manage backups, redline prints, and create as‑built documentation

Collaborate with mechanical install teams and integrators; support go‑lives and ramp‑ups

Train customer maintenance teams and complete service/PM visits

Follow LOTO, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety procedures at all times

Must‑Have Qualifications

2+ years as an Automation/Controls/Field Service Technician (material handling or industrial automation)

Hands‑on experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and field instrumentation

Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams; proficiency with test equipment (multimeter, etc.)

Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; comfortable in fast‑paced startup environments

Willingness and ability to travel domestically 80–100% and be away up to 3 consecutive weeks

Able to work nights/weekends during commissioning; lift 50 lbs; work at heights using scissor/boom lifts

Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable travel readiness

Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PanelView, PowerFlex; Siemens TIA Portal

Safety PLCs (GuardLogix), safety relays, light curtains, e‑stops, interlocks

Vision/scanning systems (Cognex, SICK), barcode readers, scales, DWS

Industrial networking, VLANs, managed switches, device‑level ring

Redlining in AutoCAD/EPLAN; basic drafting and documentation skills

OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, LOTO certifications

AS/BS in Electrical/Automation/Mechatronics or military equivalent

Schedule & Travel

Project‑based deployments across the U.S.

Typical rotations: up to 3 weeks onsite, then home time between projects (varies by schedule)

Shift flexibility required (days, nights, weekends) during installs and go‑lives

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 – $48.00/hr.
