Job Description The Maintenance Tech II is a general maintenance technician assigned to a specific zone or group of buildings. Responsibilities include inspection and surveillance of defects, creation and assignment of corrective work orders, facilitation and completion of repairs, completion of preventive maintenance work orders, and assistance in equipment installations and alterations to building systems. A 90‑day probationary period will be given to determine ability, skill set, and alignment with department and organization values.
Responsibilities
Assist Maintenance Tech III with the inspection and surveillance of defects that impact daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
Assist Maintenance Tech III by performing necessary repairs that support daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
Complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders that support daily operations or overall appearance of the facility.
Assist Maintenance Tech III with equipment installations and alterations to building systems.
Duties include but are not limited to patching, painting, ceiling tile repair/replacement, flooring repair, plumbing obstructions, electrical bulb and ballast replacement, filter replacements, minor carpentry, thermostat calibration, and general maintenance activities or other items as assigned.
Other Functions
Assist the Facilities Management department as member of a snow removal team.
Assist the Facilities Management department as member of the fire response team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with further education or experience in general maintenance or construction, or enrolled in High School Apprenticeship Program.
Knowledge of hand and power tools and repair techniques.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to function as part of a team.
Ability to read technical documents and follow verbal instructions.
Ability to read and interpret drawings.
Valid Virginia driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years’ documented workforce experience or successfully completed Maintenance Tech I position requirements (18 months minimum; Centra internal candidates only).
Travel Required: Travel as needed within the Centra coverage area is expected to be greater than 10% of the time.
