The 330‑bed facility is one of the largest freestanding psychiatric hospitals in the United States. The comprehensive programs address disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, PTSD, depression and anxiety, mental illnesses, and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction, and substance abuse.

Position Purpose The Financial Counselor is a vital role in the Business Office at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center. The incumbent provides high‑level customer service and support, verifies insurance benefits, advises insurance providers of estimated expenses, resolves insurance issues for patients, maximizes cash collections, and minimizes bad debt expense. The Financial Counselor maintains the integrity of patient accounting, delivers service excellence, upholds professionalism, and protects patient confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Familiarizes with insurance carriers contracted with Laurel Ridge Treatment Center

Places phone calls to patients, patient family members, insurance companies, and facility team members to acquire information necessary to verify insurance and coverage

Maintains patient demographic information and data collection systems

Verifies insurance eligibility for treatment and services

Provides financial counseling and payment options

Answers questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies

Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned

Mares strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations and APC policies and procedures

Qualifications
