The Goodhue County Public Works department is seeking to fill a
Deputy Director/ Assistant County Engineer
position. The Deputy Director/ Assistant County Engineer participates in the administration of department operations; personnel activities; Planning activities of the Highway Division; manage and direct the construction activities of the Highway Division; manage the plan development, preliminary engineering, and design of construction projects; maintain and deliver the County and Township structure replacement program; manage the Solid Waste Division; oversee Recycling Center Operations; supervise the day to day job assignments of the engineering technicians and seasonal personnel; supervise construction of Parks & Recreation development; represent the County and the Department at meetings; and serve as Department Head in the absence of the Public Works Director.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota
This position also requires a valid Class D driver's license.
The ideal candidate has strong relationship building skills including exceptional listening, presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Preferred experience also includes:
Eight years progressively responsible experience in highway public works or closely related field including aspects of highway design, highway maintenance and planning.
Five years of increasingly responsible leadership/management experience in public works, civil engineering or closely related field.
Three years of work-related experience in setting priorities, directing, training, supervising and evaluating full-time and part-time employees.
Compensation County employees receive generous compensation and benefits. The Deputy Director/ Assistant County Engineer is compensated at salary grade 119 (full range: $106,454 - $165,006).
