Job Summary As an OpCo Buyer, you will manage the relationship and inventory investment for assigned vendors to achieve key performance indicators such as fill rate, days cost of sales, and aged inventory. You will collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations to implement programs (Core‑Mark or customer specific). Working with both large and small vendors, you will create sustainable partnerships that add value for vendors, customers, and Core‑Mark.
Position Details
Work Location: 1945 James Pkwy., Heath, OH 43056 (East Columbus OpCo)
Onsite position – relocation not offered
Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, regular business hours
Compensation: $60,000‑$65,000 base salary, based on experience
Job Responsibilities
Review and maintain forecasting and inventory levels to ensure targeted fill rates.
Maintain accurate pricing, promotions, and allowances in mainframe systems.
Communicate with suppliers and carriers to arrange purchase orders (POs) and assist Accounts Payable with approval of bills.
Identify and create solutions to avoid spoilage and aged inventory.
Build successful supplier relationships.
Develop and communicate specific performance metrics and goals for each supplier.
Manage fill‑rate, DCOS, aged inventory, and expiry reports within assigned commodities.
Negotiate terms of assigned supplier relationships.
Provide analysis and recommendations on relevant products.
Plan and implement seasonal strategies.
Monitor new developments, trends, and market activity.
Prepare reports and records related to buying and inventory activities.
Travel as required for the position.
Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety procedures.
Participate in trade shows and special events.
Track Excel reports, write Crystal Reports, and communicate with sales.
Create Flyers from scratch and track sales and equipment.
Perform miscellaneous reports for Sales & Customer Service.
Answer phones, process customer orders, and handle credits when needed.
Assist with inventory tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ability to analyze multiple data sources to support decision‑making.
Demonstrated professional leadership and negotiation abilities.
Strong ability to prioritize and solve problems.
Independence and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Excel programming, other Microsoft Office products, and Windows‑based programs.
Strong marketing, merchandising, product, trend, and analytical skills.
Ability to interact effectively with a variety of vendors.
Knowledge of procurement, sales, and marketing flyers principles and practices.
Prior knowledge or ability to learn about market trends, seasonality, perishability, and inventory turns expertise.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
2+ years of combined buying, planning, sales, and allocation responsibilities.
