Required Education
Associate of Science Degree, from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy — Preferred.
Required Certification & Licensure
Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Current License – Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
BLS.
Required Skills & Experience
Two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
Job Summary & Responsibilities Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life‑support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy to patients. Performs invasive and non‑invasive diagnostic procedures to Intensive Care and General Practice Units patients. Maintains clinical expertise for departmental assignments at various business units throughout, as assigned. Communicates effectively with patients, co‑workers, physicians and other system employees as needed, regarding patient care needs. Adequately documents all aspects of patient care. Supervises, directs and delegates to Respiratory Therapists, respiratory orients, externs and students, as assigned. Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information.
Responsibilities
Adult ICU or Neonatal ICU – work in one or the other unit.
Good communication skills, organization skills.
Facility size: 500 patients.
Note: ICU workers with only long‑term care facility experience will not work.
Technology & Schedule Technology: Cerner.
Schedule for days (2 positions): 6:30 am – 7:00 pm (3/12), every other weekend and holiday.
Orientation: 3 days – 36 hours.
Schedule for nights (1 position): 6:30 pm – 7:00 am, every other weekend and holiday.
Orientation: 3 days – 36 hours.
On Call: No.
Block Scheduling: Yes.
