POSITION SUMMARY
A physical therapist shall plan, direct and perform physical therapy evaluations and care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient. Care plans shall be developed that promote restoration of function, restoration and maintenance of skin integrity, improvement in muscle strength, increase of endurance, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, the prevention of deformities through exercise and positioning programs and/or pain management. Responsibilities include the supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students, and volunteers. Physical therapists also participate in scheduling of patient treatments, multidisciplinary care planning and patient education, and team support of other areas of service besides their assigned home department. Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved physical therapy program Required Certification: BCLS within 3 months of date of hire Required Licensure: Texas Physical Therapy License or temporary license is adequate with permanent license obtained by 6 months after date of hire Vaccination
