Overview
Athena Care provides comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults across middle Tennessee. Services include diagnostic assessment, medical management, psychotherapy, and TMS and Spravato treatments along with Intensive Outpatient Services for adolescents and adults. Founded in 2001, Athena Care is in-network with most major insurance plans. Athena Care is seeking a Floating Medical Technician/Phone Line Attendant for our Nashville and surrounding clinics with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Position: Medical Technician Float / Phone Lines – clinical support, patient observation, and dedicated phone line support technician. This role monitors and responds to patient inquiries, coordinates pharmacy and authorization needs, assists with clinical treatment support, and ensures accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The position floats between middle Tennessee office locations as needed and supports operational continuity through coverage of both in-clinic and phone line functions. Responsibilities
Monitor phone lines, voicemails, messages, and faxes for patient inquiries and pharmacy needs. Respond to patient communications quickly and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. Delegate clinical concerns to medical providers and provide information to patients and pharmacies as requested. Assist with scheduling patient appointments when needed. Support prior authorizations and pharmacy coordination while remaining available on the phone lines as assigned. Provide clinical support and patient care as directed and in accordance with policy and procedure. Order and maintain inventory of controlled substances in compliance with DEA and FDA guidelines. Perform laboratory procedures (e.g., drug screens, venipuncture, vital signs) as required. Monitor messages, call lines, and faxes for patient inquiries and delegate information to medical providers for guidance; provide information to patient pharmacies as requested. Engage with and support patients based on therapeutic best practices; document accurately in the EMR. Schedule patient appointments as needed and identify/work through problems to ensure quality patient service. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality and applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, etc.). Communicate effectively within the organization, providing regular updates to providers, supervisors, and peers about current and completed tasks. Provide coverage for other work areas when needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; 2 years or more healthcare experience preferred; prior phlebotomy experience required. Licenses/Certifications:
Current Medical Assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of medications, standard medical procedures, and HIPAA compliance; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel) and EMR; strong verbal communication, informing, professionalism, multi-tasking. Physical Requirements:
Frequent reaching, pulling, pushing, or carrying up to 10 lbs; occasional up to 50 lbs; use of common medical equipment; routine use of phone systems, video monitoring, walking/standing/sitting to monitor patients. Job Details
