Summary Provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies and procedures. Directs and manages the care of designated patients. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles.
Job Duties
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, coordinating with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and taking actions to resolve patient needs.
Synthesize available data, information, and knowledge relevant to the situation to make decisions which optimize patient outcomes.
Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety, and participate in evidence‑based practice and research projects as applicable.
Use effective verbal and non‑verbal communication styles with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout treatment to facilitate transition of care.
Support unit and hospital goals, including all phases of the performance improvement process.
Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
Utilize technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
Demonstrate leadership and team building, teaching and mentoring new colleagues, delegating based on expertise, and providing input for performance appraisals.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery.
Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty.
Attainment and maintenance of unit‑specific competencies.
Basic computer skills.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support – State of Pennsylvania (Upon Hire).
Registered Nurse, licensed in PA (Upon Hire).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Physical Demands Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs. Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. May walk 8‑10 miles per shift. Perform tasks such as kneeling, bending, squatting, CPR as required.
