This Surgical Technician – First Assist opportunity is per diem and offers a convenient schedule. We are looking for a dynamic individual who assists surgeons with exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the assistant attends to the patient’s direct care needs. The assistant accepts responsibility for integrity with respect to maintenance and compliance, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, and other team members, and demonstrates sufficient dexterity for successful completion of duties on each procedure. The assistant maintains a professional attitude with respect for the dignity, privacy, and safety of the patient and functions within the limits of scope of practice set by medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and state law.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Performs first assisting role under direct supervision of surgeon.

Assists with room set‑up and tear‑down to facilitate patient flow.

Assists with wound exposure using various retraction techniques and applies wound dressings.

Requires knowledge and proficiency in perioperative practices as a Surgical Technologist for at least three years.

Qualifications

Current CSFA certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA‑C certification (through ABSA) must be maintained for employment.

Maintains licensure as a Surgical First Assistant where indicated by State Law.

Current American Heart Association BLS.
