Position Overview
Our client, a
nationally recognized, 100% employee-owned engineering and construction firm , is seeking an
Assistant Project Manager (APM)
to support Project Managers on projects of varying size and complexity and to independently manage smaller, less complex projects.
This role serves as a key
project coordinator and liaison
between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring project objectives are achieved within defined schedules and budget parameters. The organization consistently ranks among the

Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with
design-only and EPC projects
across multiple engineering disciplines
Manage and coordinate project activities and communications with
clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
Maintain
document control systems , databases, logs, and project tracking tools
Assist with
RFP package development , bid evaluations, contractor selection, and scope of work documentation
Manage contractor submittals, RFIs, supplemental design instructions, and site/drawing logs
Verify contractor compliance with
quality, safety, environmental, and material management programs
Support
contract administration , including change order management, field change directives, invoice approvals, and schedule management
Assist with project controls, including
cost reporting, scheduling, WBS development, project setup and closeout , and field progress tracking within accounting systems
Support development of
internal and external reports , including project budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project status updates
Participate in internal and external
project risk reviews
and coordinate with Legal as required
Close out contract and project documentation in accordance with company standards
Promote, manage, and comply with all
Safety & Health programs , policies, and training requirements for project teams and subcontractors
Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program
Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience
in project management, engineering, or construction
(Minimum of 3 years of relevant project, engineering, or construction experience required)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
High proficiency in
Microsoft Office
Ability to collaborate effectively with
owners, contractors, project managers, engineers, and designers
in a multi‑discipline team environment
Ability to thrive in a
fast‑paced, demanding work environment , including flexibility to work overtime on short notice
