The position falls within the transmission department of the organization. The engineer will be working with engineers to complete projects that support our utility customer. They will work with in-house and client engineers and designers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the engineering and design activities related to transmission line design such as engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction management with the guidance of higher level engineers
Become familiar with preparing project construction documents such as: plan and profile drawings; design drawings; engineering, material, and construction specifications; project schedules and bills of material
Help develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates with assistance of higher level engineers
Learn to design new transmission facilities with voltages ranging from 69kV and 765kV
Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design project
Work under supervision of Engineers
Position will require occasional site visits
Education and Experience Requirements
Zero to two years of experience in utilities working with Transmission Line Design
Zero to two years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish
Zero to two years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for Transmission Lines projects
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET)
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET) will count toward years of experience
An EIT License is desirable but not required
Requisite Abilities and Skills
Work effectively with both internal and external customers, including Project Management, Substation Design, Distribution, Supply Chain and Right-of-Way
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate adhering to project schedule and budget
Familiarity with standards and codes such as IEEE, ANSI, NEC and NESC
Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary
Demonstrate willingness and capabilities to assume leadership roles
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
